Frequently asked questions…
-
How do I request a commission?
All the information for requesting your first commission is available on my commission tab. There you will find a step by step guide on what to do.
-
What do I need to have?
An idea of what kind of drawing you would like an a clear reference photo is all you need. I can work from multiple photos too and piece them together if you have family members or pets you want to add to a piece. Clear photos work best but if you are unsure if a photo is of good enough quality you can send me a message directly and I will let you know.
-
Deposits?
You can join my wait-list for free! I will give you a deadline to send me your reference photos by. If I have not received your references photos by your allotted time I will reach out and contact you again, and if I do not hear back or you wish not to continue with a commission I will continue to the next person on my wait-list. I do not take deposits for this reason and will accept full payment upon completion. Revisions can be made until we are both happy with the final result.
-
Payments methods?
All payments are made either through PayPal or a private etsy listing (credit/debit card). Alternative arrangements can only be made if negotiated before the commission is started.
-
What materials do you use?
All of my ink commissions are drawn on high quality Daler Rowney hot pressed smooth water colour papaer (300gs/m) . I use a range of ink pens to achieve different tones and styles. My favourite brands include Rotring isograph and UniPin. Pastel pieces are drawn on clairefontaine pastelmat card with a range of pastel pencils including Caran D’ache and Faber Castell. All commissions are sold unmounted and unframed for easier and safer postage.
-
How long does a commission take?
As drawing is not my full time job it can take anywhere from 2-3 week to complete a piece depending on the size. Pointillism is a very time consuming drawing style and each dot is meticulously placed to create the perfect picture. Extra revisions can add time to a piece as I prefer to add ammendments bit by bit so no mistakes are made along the way. You cannot erase ink! Pastel pieces have a similar turn around time.
-
How do I frame my piece?
All of my drawings are done to standard frame sizes (A5,A4,A3). I recommend plain black or white frames so the drawing stands out but it is up to your own artistic style to know how you want to decorate your home. Displaying behind glass will help protect the drawing for a long time and prevent fading or damage.
-
Refunds and returns?
The final drawing will be approved and paid for before shipping. If the drawing arrives damaged I will be able to offer a refund or a redraw with proof of the damages.
If the drawing arrives and it is not of the standard you were expecting or there are other difficulties please reach out. I can only offer a redraw or refund if the original drawing is returned.
